Purpose

Islamp3.com is a Muslim developed website that is dedicated to providing many popular Islamic songs in mp3 format on the internet.

History

Past
This site was first launched on 11 Jumad Awal 1421 (August 20, 2001). It was desiged to provide cd-quality Islamic music, many from rare tapes that you would only find in the small shops in the middle-east. Although some of the songs did not exactly reach CD quality, the site became relatively popular in the short time of a week. The site opened with close to 50 songs and received about 10 hits a day. It gained a little fame but soon after it reached its climax, Geocities deleted all the mp3s. The 1gb of space registered with Geocities was unable to serve the site's many mp3's. The site soon became a memory, with many people requesting it to be put back up. Several months later the host of the front page deleted the page, and it was not backed up. A new site design had to be made.

Months after, the site had retained all the songs from the old site. And with a new look and new server, it had become better than before. More songs were added, and the site was operational for the next 2 years.

Present
Currently, the site has been redeveloped once more. Islamp3.com now features multiple designs, and allows for changing the look by the click of a button. The site structure was also redesigned, allowing for easier navigation and use.

Future
Insha'Allah, this site is looking for even more expansion. The goal is to provide many Islamic songs and become a portal of Islamic music. But in order to allow for this expansion, the site will need some help. If you would like to read more about this, please visit the request page.
